Zeomachy
8'paragraphs
This word popped in my head. In Greek Zeo apparently means boiling, and machy is something like battle or conflict.
Zeomachy would be the state of being in conflict like boiling water. Or perhaps conflict between competing “boilings”. Thats not a bad metaphor for irrational conflict.
This is an interesting image and like all images of potential use as a metaphor. I am going for a walk and am going to contemplate it.
I share it mostly in a spirit of self indulgence, but also in the sincere hope someone else may find it interesting and perhaps even useful in some way.
And I will add, in a perhaps more coherent and useful comment—and maybe not!!—that I am finding myself strangely impatient recently with the overwhelming number of people whose life tasks it is either to amass evidence of one kind or another, or to gather, synthesize and share it.
In my view you cannot build an optimal life on facts. Your PERSONAL participation is needed. You and the World. Your personal, ideosyncratic, felt perspective, which of course should never be allowed to devolve to The Way It Is, but which as The Way It Is For Me Today has immense value, and which is seemingly rare. There is obviously an enormous amount of voluble and dogmatic subjectivity out there, but most of it is anything but spontaneous and anything but genuinely personal. Mostly what we hear are slogans repeated as if they were original.
And I get why. I am simply saying better is possible for all of us.
So I feel today. I am not saying we should choose our own facts or ignore those of others, but am simply saying, probably poorly, that Life is something that is generative and creative, not reactionary and characterized by collection and collation.
